
SpermFilter® gradient medium
Application
SpermFilter® is a silane-silica based density gradient medium used in ART for separation and purification of highly motile human spermatozoa.
Composition
SpermFilter® is composed of silica particles covalently coated with silane and resuspended in isotonic phosphate and Hepes buffered saline.
Supply
SpermFilter® is delivered in a 100% stock solution and in Ready-to-use gradients 40%v/v and 80%v/v. Diluent: SpermWash™ medium.
Quality Control
- pH: 7.4 ± 0.2 (25º C)
- Osmolality: 300 ± 10 mOsm/kg
- Endotoxin: < 0.1 ng/ml (<1 EU/ml)
Shelf Life
100% stock solution: two years from production date at 4-8º C or one year at room temperature (20-25º C). Opened bottles should be stored refrigerated. 40% and 80% SpermFilterGradients Ready-to-use: one year from production date at 2-8º C.
Sterility
The medium is manufactured under sterile conditions and sterility is ensured by testing each batch. Sterility tests verify the absence of viable micro-organisms (bacteria, yeast and fungi).
Packages
The medium is supplied sterile filtered in pharmaceutical grade borosilicate glass bottles with teflon-coated rubber stoppers and tamper proof seals.
Clinical Performance
SpermFilter® and PureSperm® have been tested in a comparative study of 898 ART cycles (245 IUI-H, 58 IUI-D and 595 IVF/ICSI cycles). There was no significant difference.Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica Vol. 82 Issue 10 Page 929 October 2003 (Adobe PDF format).
