All donors and semen samples which meet Cryos’ DK97 standard have been selected and screened according to and meet the Danish requirements (see below) as of before 2007 when the European Tissue Directive and the Danish tissue law came into force (see DK07 standard).
According to a statement of the 13th of July 2010 from the Danish Ministry of Interior and Health nothing impedes that semen donated before the 7th of April 2007 can still be distributed and used freely within the EU but the buyer has to be informed about the rules according to which the semen was donated. This includes the fact that there is no traceability and that a documented risk assessment has to be carried out if the donor has not been tested for HBc antibodies.
