How long is sperm stored in sperm banks?

The storage period differs based on the customer's reason for storing the sperm. The reason for storing your sperm is often based on potential surgery or treatments that may harm male fertility. Therefore, the length of the storage period differs a lot based on the man storing it and his reasons for doing so.

Price of sperm storage

The price of sperm storage varies depending on how long you want the sperm to be stored. When calculating the price of sperm storage, there are three factors you need to consider:

  • Sperm analysis: To ensure that sperm storage makes sense, a sperm analysis is required. The price for a sperm analysis is EUR 93.75 per sample.
  • Mandatory health test: Directions from the Danish Ministry of Health dictates that you must receive a mandatory health test before freezing your sperm. The price for the health test is EUR 212.50 (a one-time payment).
  • Freezing per sample: If your sperm sample is sufficient and your health is good, you can start freezing your sperm. The price to freeze one sperm sample is EUR 237.50. Once you choose to freeze a sperm sample, you must also choose the length of the storage. The price of sperm storage differs from EUR 87 in three months to EUR 1500 in 10 years. It is possible to change your storage agreement during the storage period.

Where is the sperm stored?
