In approximately 1/3 of all infertility cases, the cause lies in the sperm motility or quality. Therefore, getting your sperm quality checked could provide helpful insights. In case of low sperm motility or low sperm count, it could simply mean that you might need help to become parents.
Here is how a sperm analysis is conducted
At Cryos, you can have your sperm quality tested. Please contact us and schedule an appointment in advance. In that way, our staff can do an initial screening by phone and will be ready to welcome you when you arrive. We have departments in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg. Find the contact information for our departments here.
When you arrive, please proceed to our reception. You will be asked to fill in documents regarding the sperm analysis when you show up, or have the documents sent for signature in advance. The staff will then direct you to a small, private room where you can make the sperm sample. When your sample is ready, you hand it to our staff in the reception.
Alternatively, it is possible to do the sperm sample at home. We just need the sperm sample within 1 hour after the ejaculation. We recommend that the sperm is stored at body temperature - for instance under the arm or in the waistband.
To obtain the best result, we recommend sexual abstinence for at least 2 days prior to the sperm test.
You will receive the result of the test via e-mail or telephone. You are always welcome to contact us if you have any additional questions about sperm analyses.
Price of the sperm quality analysis
- A sperm analysis costs DKK 693.75 / EUR 93.75 (incl. VAT). You can pay with cash, credit card or MobilePay.

Sperm storage
Besides donor sperm we also offer the possibility of sperm storage, which means we will keep your own sperm frozen and safely stored for you until you need it to make a baby later. There can be several reasons for having a sperm storage - you may be facing medical treatment that can cause sterility or a decrease in your sperm quality, or perhaps you are having a vasectomy but would like to have the possibility of having a child with your genes.
