Fertility Treatment

There is a wide variety of infertility treatments that include the use of donor eggs. Here we discuss IVF and ICSI as possible options for your fertility treatment.

    What is IVF?

In Vitro Fertilization, also known as IVF, is an assisted reproductive technology where an egg and sperm are manually combined for fertilization outside of the womb. Once an embryo has formed, it will be transferred to the uterus where hopefully a successful pregnancy will occur. The chances of becoming pregnant are higher with this procedure because you are inserting an already developing embryo into your uterus rather than just sperm.

    Who uses IVF?

In Virto Fertilization is utilized by couples experiencing male factor infertility and women who experience ovulation issues and other disorders that impact their fertility.

    What is ICSI?

Eggs that have been frozen and thawed must be fertilized using a fertility treatment called ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), as the freezing process makes the outer coating around the eggs tougher and sperm may be unable to penetrate it naturally under IVF. Your treatment will be exactly the same as with IVF. The only difference is that instead of mixing the sperm with the eggs and leaving them to fertilize, a skilled embryologist will inject a single sperm into the egg. This maximizes the chance of fertilization taking place as it bypasses the natural barriers the sperm will have in getting inside the egg.
