    A dream come true

It all started in 1981, when Cryos’ founder Ole Schou had a dream and began researching the process of freezing sperm. After years’ worth of research development, Ole Schou founded Cryos. Today, Cryos is a widely recognized international sperm and egg bank and has helped making thousands of dreams come true.

Being an international company, Cryos supplies frozen donor sperm and donor eggs to more than 100 countries worldwide. We have the world’s largest selection of ID Release and Non-ID Release donors. We are also proud to say that we boast the highest number of registered pregnancies in the world.

From the beginning, the company has specialized in the cryopreservation of sperm. In the last 10-15 years, the technology behind oocyte (egg) vitrification has evolved greatly. As it continued to improve, it was only natural for Cryos to expand into the donor egg market as well.

In 2015, Cryos established the first free standing fully independent frozen egg bank in the United States. The vision is still the same; to help people make their dream of having a child come true.

Aside from advanced research and development, Cryos’ international success can be attributed to the people – the people who work at Cryos, our generous sperm and egg donors, and of course all the families who have put their trust in us and who are now the proud parents of happy, healthy children.

Ole Schou tells the story of how Cryos started

"I don’t know why I had this dream back in 1981. But for some strange reason, the moment I woke up I just knew I had to find out everything there was to know about frozen sperm. It became somewhat of an obsession and I basically read every book and paper ever written about the subject. Little did I know, that all of a sudden, I had actually become one of the leading experts in the subject without even being a scholar of natural science. Fortunately, I was able to combine my knowledge about frozen sperm with a Graduate Diploma in Business & Administration, and gradually establish a successful commercial business. Utilizing my knowledge about the process of freezing and storing human sperm, I started collaborating with doctors and clinics who were very satisfied with my work and my product. Business took off, and at first, my office and laboratory were established as a service merely for frozen sperm storage. In 1990 the donor program was established, and international demand increased rapidly. Later on, we started specializing in the egg vitrification technology as well. This means that we are able to help even more people around the world becoming parents."
