Important Cryos Shipping and Delivery Policies You Need to Know
Ready to have your donor sperm or donor egg order shipped and delivered? Great! Cryos has compiled the most important information you need to know about our shipping and delivery policies. This information will provide you with a better understanding of what to expect and will hopefully make your ordering process as simple and easy as possible.
When Do You Need to Place Your Order?
Before you place your order, you should have completed these three steps.
1. Choose your favorite donor
Use our donor search tool to help you navigate and select from hundreds of Cryos donors. Though the list of donors is extensive, there is probably one you have fallen in love with that will make the perfect fit for your dream family. View our tips on how to find the perfect sperm or egg donor here.
2. Make sure to select the appropriate quantity and type
When selecting donor sperm, it is important to know what fertility treatment you will be doing and know how much, and what type of sperm you should be ordering. For example, if you are doing a home insemination, you will probably want to order two of our ICI MOT10 straws, according to our recommendations regarding home insemination. Remember to reserve your donor straws for future treatments and/or siblings.
Working with a clinic? Check with your doctor or medical provider to make sure you are ordering the correct amount and type of donor sperm. This will ensure a successful treatment and avoid any shipping delays.
When selecting donor eggs, you should know the number of eggs you will need to purchase for your fertility treatment. Your doctor may also suggest reserving donor eggs depending on the type of treatment you will be undergoing.
You may want to buy the sperm in CBS high security straws, which may give you an extra sense of security when your order is shipped. Read more about buying sperm in CBS high security straws here.
3. Know your ovulation time or treatment date
It is extremely important to know when you will be ovulating or when your treatment date is with your clinic. Without these details, you will be unable to select the shipment date for your order. This is critical information that is needed to make sure your donor sperm or donor eggs arrive on time.
Your doctor should inform you of your treatment date, advise you if your shipment can arrive early and be stored at the clinic. If you are performing a home insemination, you will need to correlate the arrival date of your donor sperm with your most fertile time. It is best to order for arrival a day or two before you think you will need it.
If you are going to use home insemination, then we can recommend you to read our blog post on how to make home insemination successful.
When Will You Receive Your Cryos Order?
The first thing you should know is that YOU select the shipment date and shipping method. You decide when you will need to receive your order. The shipping date you select is the date your order will leave Cryos. It will arrive at your destination (home, FedEx holding or clinic) one to three days later than the shipping date you selected. Cryos requires two business days' advance notice to ship your order from our facility.
If you need it expedited you will incur a late order fee which costs over $125.00 more. Our shipping occurs Monday through Friday only. Our Customer Care department hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (eastern time).
Examples on when you will receive your order
If you choose to ship out on a Monday, you will receive your order on a Tuesday before 4:30 PM (Overnight Priority delivery).
If you choose to ship out on a Friday, you will receive your order on a Monday. You can select a Saturday delivery, but it is the most expensive delivery service we have and needs to be ordered by 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
Cryos Donor Sperm and Egg Shipping Methods
Cryos uses FedEx as our courier for domestic and the majority of our international shipments. Keep in mind, we are unable to factor in FedEx delays due to weather. These are the Cryos shipping options available through FedEx:
- Overnight Priority (Mon-Fri)
- US Saturday Delivery (Fridays before 10:00 a.m. only)
- International Shipping
*Donor eggs are delivered in the continental US via FedEx overnight priority shipping and typically arrives the next day. Your clinic MUST confirm your order and shipment arrival with Cryos.
You will select one of the above shipping options when you place your order. Add the number of business days your order is in transit to your chosen shipment date and this will give you the day your order will arrive.
If shipping directly to your home, you or someone over the age of 18 needs to sign for the delivery. You do have the option to hold your delivery at a FedEx shipping location (FedEx, Walgreens, etc.) as well.

Tank Selection
When placing your sperm straw order, you will also select whether you want a small or large nitrogen tank for transportation. Donor egg straws must be shipped in a large tank.
A small nitrogen tank will keep sperm straws frozen for seven days. A large nitrogen tank will keep straws frozen for twelve days. Days begin on the day it is shipped from Cryos.
Read more about our shipping tanks here.
Order Fees
A late order fee of $125 will apply for same-day and next day shipping orders. Orders placed after Noon (Eastern time) for shipping the next working day or same-day will be charged this fee. There is also $100 fee for same day cancellation orders.
Liquid nitrogen dry shipper tanks are to be returned to Cryos within 10 days after the initial shipping date for the small nitrogen tank and 15 days after the initial shipping date for the large nitrogen tank. Failure to return the tank within this time period may result in additional charges for the tank rental.
