Meet the Sperm Donors

At Cryos, we are proud of our diverse and educated sperm donors. Here we discuss why men choose to help families in need by donating, and how they are selected through our screening process.

Every Cryos donor has gone through an extensive screening process to ensure that they are physically and psychologically fit to become sperm donors. Belowone of our donors talks about his reasons for becoming a donor.

Adam and his motivation for donating

“I became a sperm donor because by the time my wife and I wanted to have children of our own, it just didn’t seem realistic for us to have biological children without using an egg donor or surrogate. My wife is older than me and has always focused on her career. In doing all this research it turns out that there is a huge need for sperm donors and I decided that it was something I wanted to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and help others.”

    Adam, Donor

    How Cryos Selects Sperm Donors

Before becoming a donor, applicants go through an extensive selection process where only 5-10% are accepted. Below are six steps all donors must go through in order to become a Cryos sperm donor.

    Step 1:

The candidate fills out an online application form and submits it through our website

    Step 2:

When the application is accepted, Cryos invites the candidate to drop by to provide ainitial sperm sample.

    Step 3:

After the sample is collected, the donor candidate must choose to be an Anonymous or Non-anonymous donor. If they choose to list as Non-anonymous, they can build a profile with attributes they choose to disclose to potential families.

    Step 4:

The donor candidate then attends a medical exam and provides blood and urine samples for hereditary and infectious disease screening.

    Step 5:

Our healthcare professionals review the medical history, perform a physical exam, conduct a psychological assessment and run a background check of each candidate.

    Step 6:

Once cleared through our screening process, approved candidates work closely with the Cryos team to continue providing ejaculates two to three times per week.
