When you choose a sperm donor, your choice should first and foremost be based on your wishes and in accordance with your fertility treatment and your country’s regulations. It is important that you are happy with your choice and that you find a sperm donor that is right for you and your future child. However, we understand that, for many people, economy plays a role too, when planning to conceive with donor sperm. Here you can learn more about the prices as well as the payment methods and the total cost when you order donor sperm from Cryos.
Calculating the price of donor sperm
The price of donor sperm consists of several components. Factors such as your choice of donor and the sperm type will affect how much your total costs of using a sperm donor will be. Your treatment country also matters as this will influence the shipping costs and value-added tax as well as determine whether you need a Quota Reservation or not. In other words, calculating the price of donor sperm is complex. To get to know the exact and final price of your order, you will therefore have to visit our Sperm Donor Search and add sperm straws from your favourite donor to your basket.
Below you can learn more about what affects the price of donor sperm straws and see a few donor sperm price examples. You can also see the fixed prices of optional add-ons such as Adult Photos and Donor exclusivity. When calculating the total sperm donor costs, remember to include shipping costs and the price of a Quota Reservation if relevant.
How the type and quality affect the price of donor sperm straws
The price of donor sperm straws varies according to straw type and motility.
- IUI or ICI straws: The price of ICI sperm is lower than IUI-ready straws, as IUI sperm requires an extended laboratory process compared to ICI.
- Sperm motility: The sperm quality, referred to as motility or MOT, also affects the total cost. The higher the motility the higher the donor sperm price.
The amount of sperm needed to become pregnant depends on individual factors, such as your age and your fertility. Therefore, we recommend following your clinic’s preferences regarding what and how much donor sperm to order.
How your choice of donor affects the sperm donor costs
When looking at the price of donor sperm straws, this very much depends on how much you want to know about the donor. Simply put: the more you want to see or know about the donor, the higher the cost.
- ID Release or Non-ID Release: The price of donor sperm from a Non-ID Release donor is lower than an ID Release donor. Regulations vary in the different countries, which might limit your options.
- Basic or Extended Profile: The sperm donor costs are lower if you choose a Basic Profile instead of an Extended Profile that requires the donor to fill out an extensive questionnaire about his personality and preferences.
