Unfortunately, many people struggle with infertility, and an increasing number need help to become parents. At Cryos, we are proud to help create life, and we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to make their dream of a child come true. If you also want to help others, you can see our egg donor requirements and apply to become an egg donor here.
Our story
In 1987, Cryos opened its first sperm bank in Aarhus. Today, we are the world’s largest sperm and egg bank with departments in Denmark, Cyprus, the UK, and the US. Through the years, thousands of donors have contributed to our work based on our vision: To help people make their dream of having a child come true.
From the beginning, Cryos has specialised in the cryopreservation of sperm, which means the sperm is frozen in thin straws and safely stored in a nitrogen tank at -196 °C. But as the technology behind oocyte (egg) vitrification evolved and improved, it was only natural for Cryos to expand and include donor eggs in the donor programme as well, in countries where this is allowed. In 2015 we opened our first egg bank in the US, and in 2020 we opened a sperm and egg bank in Cyprus.
In 2023, we opened Cryos Clinic in Aarhus, where we offer fertility treatments for women and couples who need help from a donor to become parents. In Cryos Clinic we also welcome egg donors – healthy women who wish to donate their eggs and make a significant difference in other people’s lives.

The need for egg donors in Denmark
Infertility is the most prevalent condition among 25-44-year-olds (source: regioner.dk), which means many people rely on other people’s help to become parents. For women and couples who are unable to conceive due to reasons related to female fertility, donor eggs may be necessary to achieve pregnancy.
Some of the most common reasons for using donor eggs include:
- Infertility due to medical conditions such as endometriosis, early menopause, etc.
- Decreased egg quality due to age or former disease
- Increased risk of transmitting serious genetic diseases
In Denmark, you can receive fertility treatment with donor eggs in public and private fertility clinics.
