Unfortunately, many people struggle with infertility, and an increasing number need help to become parents. As an egg donor, you can make a significant difference for women and couples who dream of parenthood. Perhaps you know someone who has struggled to conceive and understand the importance of someone willing to donate and thereby bring their dream to life?
While the joy of helping others is the primary motivation for becoming an egg donor, there are other benefits to donating your eggs. Learn more below.
Why become an egg donor?
Make a difference
Infertility is the most prevalent condition among 25-44-year-olds (source: regioner.dk), which means many people rely on other people’s help to become parents. By donating your eggs, you can profoundly impact other’s lives and help them make their dream of a child come true.
Donor eggs are used in fertility treatments for women and couples unable to conceive with their own eggs. Some common reasons for using donor eggs include:
- Infertility due to medical conditions such as endometriosis, early menopause, etc.
- Decreased egg quality due to age or previous diseases
- Increased risk of transmitting serious genetic diseases
Receive a fertility check
During the egg donor process you will gain insights into your own fertility, which can be valuable if you plan to have children in the future. You will undergo a blood test to assess your ovarian reserve, and if approved as a donor, you will also undergo an ultrasound of your ovaries and uterus.

Undergo a health check including genetic screening
Before donating eggs, we must ensure that you are in good health and meet our egg donor requirements. You will undergo testing for various infectious diseases and genetic screening. This includes testing whether you are a healthy carrier of some of the most common genetic variants that could cause a child to be born with one of the most frequent serious hereditary diseases worldwide, including Cystic fibrosis.

Receive financial compensation
As an egg donor you will need to make multiple visits to Cryos Clinic throughout the process and take the day off after the egg retrieval procedure. You will receive 7.200 DKK per donation as a financial compensation for transportation expenses and lost income due to your egg donor responsibilities. In addition, you will receive between DKK 1,500 and 3,000 as a one-time bonus. The bonus amounts are paid together with your regular compensation.
