What we do at Cryos
At our sperm bank locations in the US, Cryos collects sperm donations from men who live up to our sperm donor requirements and wish to help others make their dream of having a child come true. The sperm is then analyzed and processed in the lab to ensure that it is high-quality and ready for use in fertility treatment or for home insemination.
From the very beginning, we have specialized in cryopreservation of sperm, which means the sperm is frozen in thin straws and safely stored in a nitrogen tank at -196 °C. But as the technology behind oocyte (egg) vitrification evolved and improved, it was only natural for Cryos to expand and include donor eggs in our donor program as well. In 2015 we opened our first egg bank, and today we have several egg bank locations around the US.
Why use a sperm bank?
The demand for donor sperm and eggs is high. Due to greater acceptance and diverse family structures, there has been a significant development in this area in recent years. There can be many reasons for getting pregnant with help from a donor, but the main groups of people turning to Cryos for donor sperm are women planning to become Single Mothers by Choice, lesbian parents as well as heterosexual couples experiencing infertility.

Cryos was originally started in Denmark after our founder, Ole Schou, had an unusual dream. The moment he woke up, he decided to find out everything there was to know about frozen sperm, and he quickly became one of the leading experts in the subject. He started collaborating with doctors and clinics, and today, Cryos is the world’s largest sperm and egg bank with several locations in the US, Denmark, UK, and Cyprus.
