The amount that you receive is in principle considered as a compensation for your inconvenience and transport. In other words, you are not being paid for your sperm. Click on the button below to apply as a sperm donor.
Standard compensation
As a sperm donor, you can receive up to DKK 500 per donation. If you donate regularly, you can receive up to DKK 6,500 a month. The amount is based on the quality of the sperm, the amount of sperm you donate each time and your profile type. You are guaranteed a minimum of DKK 200 for a donation – even if the sample is not approved. You will receive the financial compensation when you have made 10 donations (also called a batch), and your blood and urine tests have been approved. Once a batch is completed, you simply start a new one.
Bonus amount
In addition to the standard compensation, you also have the opportunity to receive a bonus amount. If you choose to fill out an Extended Profile, you will receive a bonus amount of DKK 1500, and as an ID Release donor, you will receive a bonus of DKK 500 when you fill out the consent forms. The bonus amounts are one-off amounts and you will receive them together with the standard compensation.

- Taken certain types of medication (for example, medication for hair loss or acne)
- Had sex with a person suspected of having HIV infection or hepatitis B or C infection (contagious hepatitis)

Frequently Asked Questions
How much are sperm donors compensated?
At Cryos, a sperm donor can receive up to DKK 500 per donation (about EUR 67) but must complete a batch of 10 approved donations before the compensation is paid out. A sperm donor is guaranteed a minimum of DKK 200 for a donation, even if the sample is not approved. Sperm donors make between 200 - 500 DKK (27 - 67 Euro) on average per donation. The total amount depends on factors like the donor's choice of profile and the quality of the sperm sample. The maximum amount a sperm donor can earn in a given month is 6,500 DKK.
Do I need to abstain from sexual activity before donating?
Yes, abstinence from sexual activity is recommended before donating sperm. Cryos recommends a period of sexual abstinence for 48 hours before donating sperm. Sperm donors are generally advised to maintain a period of abstinence before each donation. Abstinence helps ensure high quality and quantity of sperm. An abstinence period of two to three days helps to increase the sperm count. Studies show that a period of abstinence also helps to increase the overall sperm quality and sperm morphology.
