A sperm donor can usually donate once or twice a week - sometimes more often. However, this depends on the quality of your sperm and whether the donor has had sex in the meantime or not.

Why abstinence is important for sperm donors

Generally, we advise donors to maintain a period of abstinence before each donation. Abstinence ensures that our sperm donors have high quality and quantity. The underlying reasons for an absence period are listed below:

  • Higher sperm count: An abstinence period of two or three days helps to increase the sperm count in your semen.
  • Better sperm quality: Studies show, that a period of abstinence also helps to increase your overall sperm quality and sperm morphology.
  • Sample size: By maintaining a period of abstinence, you can improve the size of your donations.

However, for those with exceptional sperm quality, more frequent donations might be permissible.

Do sperm donors get paid?

Yes, sperm donors get paid for their contribution. At Cryos, sperm donors can earn up to 500 DKK per donation and a maximum of 6000 DKK each month. Follow the link to read more about compensation and pay for sperm donors.

All rights and responsibilities are waived at the point of donation to ensure clarity for both donors and the recipient.
