Shipping and delivery of your donor sperm is an essential part of the ordering process. On this page, you can read about the different options, their price, and which one you should choose. Click on the button to contact our Customer Care Team, if you have any questions regarding shipping, delivery or pick up of donor sperm.
How to choose the right delivery option
Before choosing a delivery option, you must know when your treatment is going to occur. Be sure to order the donor sperm for delivery a couple of days before ovulation. This is important to remember when ordering donor sperm for home insemination, as the chances of success are highest if insemination happens right after ovulation. If the insemination will occur at a fertility clinic or a hospital, please consult them before choosing a delivery date. Follow the link to read more about ovulation and how to track it.
We require two business days’ notice in advance before shipping. Rush order service is available for an additional charge and will be shipped the day of or the day after ordering. Same-day rush orders must be completed by 12PM EST.

The process of shipping sperm
The shipping process depends on where your insemination is going to take place and whether you have ordered donor sperm for home insemination or treatment at a clinic. Contact our Customer Care regarding the possibility of international shipping. Each shipment contains the following:
- Packing list
- Handling instructions and thawing procedures
- Safety warning for handling of liquid nitrogen (LN2)
- Summary of Records containing test results and Standard Release information
- Insemination kit for home insemination (for private home deliveries or pick up at FedEx shipping center, or Cryos Orlando location)
- Return shipping instructions and return shipping label
Handling the nitrogen tank
The sperm straws are shipped in a tank charged with liquid nitrogen. A large nitrogen tank will keep sperm straws frozen for 12 days. Life of tank starts on ship date. When ordering online, please indicate in the text field if you want to pay extra for the large nitrogen tank. When you receive the tank, quickly open it to check your straws are correct and in good condition. Close after checking.
Keep the tank locked tight in tank and shipper until you are ready for your treatment. The sperm will thaw at room temperature in about 20 minutes. Do not use a water bath. If your treatment is going to occur in an IVF clinic, they can transfer and store the sperm in their tanks. See the video below for a visual explanation of how to handle a nitrogen tank.
Returning the nitrogen tank
All shipments using liquid nitrogen dry shipper tanks are roundtrip. Each shipment contains a return shipping label and detailed instructions on preparing the tank for return delivery.
Small tanks are to be returned to Cryos within 10 days after the initial shipping date and large tanks within 15 days. Failure to return the tank within this period may result in additional charges (up to $1,500) for the tank rental.
Please be advised that our default return label may take up to 6 days to be delivered to our facility. Additionally, you may receive automated friendly reminders from our system regarding the return of tanks.
In case of emergency situations, we encourage you to contact Cryos Customer Care for assistance.
Returning unused straws due to missing ovulation timing:
If you have missed your ovulation window and were unable to use your sperm straw in time, please reach out to our Customer Care team as soon as possible.
We will issue a special return label for you, provided you inform us at least 2 business days before your tank expires. Once we receive your tank before the expiration date, we will store the straw for you. Please note that a storage fee starting at $55 per month will apply separately from your reservation. For further details, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care team.
