We have set these global limits of 15 and 50 families for some of our donors for those who prefer a donor with a clearly defined upper limit on their journey toward parenthood. Learn more about this option below.
What is a Worldwide Quota Reservation?
When a donor is available to a maximum of 15 or 50 families worldwide, no more than 15 or 50 families globally can have children conceived using sperm from that donor. When you order donor sperm from one of these donors, you reserve your spot as one of these families. Each of these families can have more than one child using the donor.
Sperm donor options with family limits
- Worldwide Quota Reservation for 15 families: Can be used by up to 14 other families besides yours.
- Worldwide Quota Reservation for 50 families: Can be used by up to 49 other families besides yours.

Why choose a donor with a worldwide limit?
While not all our sperm donors have a defined number og family matches worldwide, the majority of our donors are rarely used in more than 50 families. In practice, most donors are matched with far fewer families than this limit.
If you prefer a clearly defined upper limit, you can choose a donor with a worldwide quota. This is an optional add-on that provides full transparency about a donor’s maximum number of family matches, offering added clarity and reassurance.
How to find donors with a worldwide quota for 15 or 50 families?
Simply use the filter in our free online Donor Search to view these donors. You can easily identify the quota limit (15 or 50 families) by looking for the icon in the top-left corner of the donor’s profile.
What is the price for a Worldwide Quota Reservation?
When ordering sperm from a donor with a worldwide quota for 15 or 50 families, an additional fee for the Worldwide Quota Reservation is added to your order. The price depends on the family limit you choose:
| Worldwide quota | Price |
| 15 families | 5,800 USD |
| 50 families | 580 USD |
Can I get a refund for a Worldwide Quota Reservation?
Yes. We understand that things do not always go as planned, and if you do not become pregnant and no longer have straws or embryos left, you can have your Worldwide Quota Reservation refunded within the first 3 years after purchase. To request a refund, please contact us. We will provide you with a form that must be completed by your doctor in order to terminate your Worldwide Quota Reservation.
As the refund expiration date approaches, we will notify you by email to remind you to either terminate your quota reservation and request a refund or register your pregnancy if treatment has been successful.

Frequently asked questions
How is the number of families counted?
A family is counted when they order donor sperm from a donor with a worldwide quota for 15 or 50 families. A Worldwide Quota Reservation is automatically added to the order, securing their place among these families.
Once 15 or 50 families hold a Worldwide Quota Reservation for a donor, no new families can order sperm from that particular donor. If a family later terminates their Worldwide Quota Reservation because they do not become pregnant and decide to try with another sperm donor instead, their place becomes available to another family.
When a pregnancy or birth is registered, the Worldwide Quota Reservation becomes permanent and can no longer be terminated.
Please note that a family can have more than one child with the same donor.
What happens when a donor’s worldwide quota is fully reached?
When a donor reaches the limit of 15 or 50 families worldwide, their profile will automatically be closed to new families in our Donor Search. However, if your family has already reserved a spot in that donor’s quota, it will not affect you. You can still purchase remaining straws for sibling treatment to expand your family, provided we have stock available.
