We are all healthy carriers of one or more recessive genes, that may cause a future child to inherit a recessive genetic disease. Most of us do not know which genetic mutations we carry. The risk of a child being born with a recessive disease is increased if both the sperm donor and the recipient carry mutations in the same gene(s).
